Licensed Professional Counselor
I am Caryn Jooste (She/Her/Hers)
I work with children (age 8 and up), adolescents and adults. My work involves a collaborative, non-judgmental and caring approach to clients where I strive to build a safe environment for individuals to express themselves freely. Jon Kabat-Zinn suggests, as part of mindfulness practice, that we look deeply at our present moments with a spirit of generosity, kindness toward oneself, and openness toward what might be possible. With thoughtful consideration to self-compassion, mindfulness, coping strategies and cognitive skill development, I work collaboratively with clients to improve their lives and embrace Kabat-Zinn’s thoughtful intention.
I tailor sessions to a client’s specific needs, such as anxiety, life stressors, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, transition and adjustment to a college environment, parenting and early motherhood, in a view to gaining mental wellness. I am EMDR training and currently offer this effective service to my clients.
My passion lies at the intersection of counseling and education with particular expertise in college student counseling, as well as drug and alcohol treatment and rehabilitation. The years I spent in industry contribute to my extensive experience in business administration where I gained valuable organization skills prior to my pivot to counseling and education.
I earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Duquesne University after achieving a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in counseling from Carlow University. I am committed to learning and continually seek out ways to improve my service in support of clients.
I offer a private pay rate of $130 per session with a sliding scale if that is not affordable. I also accept Cigna, Highmark, and United/Optum insurance.
I am currently accepting new clients
